Donny's Ramblings

Welcome to Miami

FYI: I’m speaking in Miami 3 times tomorrow (and already did so twice today) if any Miami readers would like to come out and say hello. Service times and directions can be found on the Miami Vineyard website:

After this evening’s service I was informed that Erik Spoelstra, the head coach of the NBA’s Miami Heat, was in the audience tonight. For some reason I find that kinda cool. 🙂

  5. Very cool service this morning. I never approved of porn, but did watch it with a boyfriend. I did it to make him happy. I try not to judge people, and never really thought about how it make these women feel. I know they do it for money, but did not realise the humiliation they faced. Wow. You mentioned three components to create intimacy and I believe you mentioned a book. I didn’t get the author or the title. I believed you referred to it as “THE FLAME”, Hmmmm…..Don’t really remember…. but it sounded interesting. Could you post or email me the info. I’d love it if you could. Thanks. This morning was not only informative but eye opening as well.

  7. Congrats! You’re helping to change lives just by being willing to share your story. Thanks!

When you make it to South Texas, let me know!

  9. I was at the Vineyard yesterday and I want to thank you for coming to Miami and sharing the story of your life with us.. Your message was incredibly powerful. I feel strongly about the problem of Christians addicted to porn because of what it did to my life. My Christian husband was completely and hopelessly addicted to porn. I think he started out looking at soft core images but over the years it progressed to the most disgusting and violent porn out there. I won’t even begin to describe what went on in our marriage but suffice it to say that over time my husband became extremely violent and abusive. God finally got through to me that He had a better plan for my life, and more importantly, He didn’t want my little boy to grow up in such a miserable environment.

Please keep spreading the message that porn hurts people. People think it’s harmless, but it’s not. It allows Satan a foothold in people’s lives. I think Christians are especially vulnerable to porn. It’s easier for a Christian to justify watching porn than it is to go out and have an affair or something like that. But I believe it is every bit as damaging.

God bless you. I will pray for you. I feel that God will use you in a really powerful way and I know that your message will help a lot of people.

  11. Julia,

“Flame” is actually a video by Rob Bell. It’s part of his “Nooma” series, which is a series of short videos that address different topics each time. “Flame” is the second Nooma video, and talks about the different types of “flame” that are required to build the “big bonfire” of the type relationship God has for us. You can get the video here (clicking on the bluish green box on the page will play a short preview of it):

There is also another short preview of it here (although I really like the preview on that last page better):

Previews of some of Rob Bell’s other Nooma videos (not really related to this one) can be seen here:
